OrganicAthlete : Exercise Your Power The 508: Stage Four

The 508: Stage Four

The irony of riding through Death Valley at midnight during a full moon is that I didn't die. Four hours later, I thought I might as cramps shocked each leg with every pedal stroke.

I'm still not sure exactly what caused the cramps as I haven't had cramps in a long time. I think it had something to do with the fact that for two days before the event I'd had a bad batch of bananas (don't ask, it was weird), and I could eat very little. I went into the race a bit depleted, and the desert shows no mercy.

Results at the end of Stage 4: 325 Miles in 18:58:00

Aha!  I met with my new coach today, and I think he immediately identified the problem.  My saddle is too low.  I'm not sure why yet, as I use the same fitting system he uses.  So I have to go back and check my numbers.
